Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)
Common Questions About Orthopedic Acupuncture & Care
MANUAL THERAPY
Does acupuncture hurt?
Most patients experience little to no discomfort.
You may feel mild sensations such as warmth, heaviness, or a dull ache around the needle site. These are normal and often indicate the treatment is having an effect.
The needles used are very thin and designed for minimal sensation.
How often will I need treatment?
This depends on your condition, goals, and how your body responds.
A common starting point is:
-
1x per week for moderate conditions
-
1–2x per week for more acute or complex cases
As you improve, frequency is reduced and treatment transitions toward long-term resolution rather than ongoing maintenance.
Will I need to keep coming long-term?
No.
The goal is to resolve your condition and improve how your body functions so you don’t need ongoing care.
Some patients choose occasional follow-ups, but long-term weekly treatment is not the standard approach.
Do you accept insurance?

How long are appointments?
-
Initial evaluation: 60 minutes
-
Follow-up visits: 50 minutes
All visits are one-on-one and focused on assessment, treatment, and progression.
How long does it take to see results?
Many patients notice some level of change within the first 4-6 visits.
More meaningful, lasting improvements typically occur over several weeks as treatment progresses and movement patterns improve.
What conditions do you typically treat?
We primarily work with:
-
Neck and shoulder pain
-
Low back and hip pain
-
Knee and joint-related issues
-
Sports and activity-related injuries
-
Chronic or recurring pain conditions
Do I need to do exercises or lifestyle changes?
In many cases, yes—but they are simple and targeted.
Corrective exercise and strength work are used to improve movement and help prevent symptoms from returning.
How many needles are used?
The number varies depending on your condition, but typically ranges from 8–15 needles per session.
Where are the needles placed?
Needles are placed based on your condition and treatment goals.
Common areas include the arms, legs, back, and other regions that influence movement and pain patterns.
Is there any bleeding or risk of infection?
Acupuncture is considered very safe when performed by a licensed practitioner.
Sterile, single-use needles are used. Minor spotting can occasionally occur, but significant bleeding is uncommon.
Can this help my condition?
Many patients seek care for pain, injury, or movement-related issues that haven’t fully resolved.
The best way to determine if this approach is a good fit is through an initial evaluation.
What about nutrition or supplements?
Nutrition may be addressed when relevant to your condition.
Recommendations are practical and focused—no restrictive diets or complex protocols.
